Date: April 26, 9:00 am to 2:15 pm. 

Location: SGEI at Niizhwaaching Aanikoobijigeng Gikinoo’amaadiiwigamig (Fort Frances) campus grounds, 1452 Idylwild Drive, Fort Frances, ON

Lunch: Burgers and baby potatoes will be provided. Students are welcome to bring their own lunches.

Event information

Purpose: the purpose of the event is to celebrate Anishinaabemowin, showcase what area schools are doing to support the language, give students a chance to showcase their language skills in a supportive way, and to bring Elders and speakers together for a day of fun.

Participants: Teams from grades 5, 6, 7, 8 Ojibwe classes from Rainy River District School Board (RRDSB), Northwest Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) and area First Nations schools. Teams will consist of around 6-8 students per class.

Divisions and awards: Junior division (grades 5 & 6) and senior division (grades 7 & 8). Each division will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Judges: Elders and local language speakers from the Treaty #3 region will judge the competition.

Disclosures
Please ensure that disclosures have been signed for ALL participants before team registration.  Obtaining disclosures is the responsibility of the Team Coach.  SGEI considers participation in the event as consent for photo and video release.
