SP100 Wildland Firefighter Training
The 40-hour Wildland Firefighter Training course intensely focuses on safety and prepares participants to assume the role of an entry-level forest fire crew member. This course is mandatory for MNR Fire Rangers and private contract firefighters.

Wildland Firefighter Certification valid for 2026/2027
What you’ll learn
Attendance at all sessions is mandatory to complete the course. This course equips participants with the skills to safely and effectively work as forest fire crew members under the direction of a supervisor.
Participants will be trained in:
- Basic fire behaviours
- Fire terminology
- Maintaining and operating equipment, including power pumps, suppression hand tools, communications equipment and camping equipment
Cost
FREE. Some participants may be eligible to earn a training allowance (hourly wage) while completing this training.
Eligibility
Open to everyone aged 18 years and older. Participants must have their Standard First Aid before starting the course.
