About the program

This course can be taken individually or as part of the Victimology Certificate. If you’re interested in pursuing the Victimology Certificate, inquire with our coordinator.

Crime is frequently reported and sensationalized in the media. Students are sensitized to the impact of the media on victims of crime. Through a review of current events, students evaluate the media’s role in victims’ lives, with particular attention given to privacy issues. Students develop media research, communication and public relations skills to effectively advocate for victims’ issues in the media.
