About the program
This course can be taken individually or as part of the Victimology Certificate. If you’re interested in pursuing the Victimology Certificate, inquire with our coordinator.
Victim assistance workers must be able to plan and implement skills and techniques aimed at the prevention of crime and the healing of victims. Students are introduced to the theory and practice of victim service interventions. Students learn to conduct threat assessments, triage, facilitation, mediation, and negotiation. Special emphasis is placed on recognizing and addressing the acute needs of victims in crisis and delivering interventions from a client-centred perspective.
