Micro-credential | Eligible for OSAP
During this preparatory program participants will participate in skills training to cover; financial literacy, goal setting and career mapping, job applications, soft skills, interview skills, workplace communications and gain an understanding of employment standards and workers’ rights and responsibilities.
Learn how to safely operate a chainsaw with both in-class and hands-on experience. Training topics include personal protective equipment, kickback, proper felling techniques, notching, storage, chainsaw safety features, hands-on chainsaw maintenance, and proper sharpening.

This entry-level program is designed to help participants gain vital skills for the workplace by learning to write documents, take notes, create spreadsheets, send emails and more.

We offer a variety of workshops geared at preparing individuals for employment, including resume writing, crafting your cover letter, interview skills and preparation, employer expectations, job search, team building, and how to manage stress in the workplace.

Participants in this program will gain the skills to effectively provide emergency first care to patients. The program is designed to engage participants with a variety of techniques.

Learners complete training with an industry-recognized Freshwater Fishing Guide certification, their safe boaters license and other certifications.

This program prepares participants for entry level opportunities as a guest services ambassador at resorts, motels or hotels.
Participants learn WHMIS, health and safety, standard First Aid and CPR, Working at Heights, machine orientations, and operational instructions. Successful program graduates will be certified as Heavy Equipment Operators for Front-End Loaders, Excavators, Dozers, and Rock Trucks.

Participants gain foundational skills to be used in the construction industry. Various industry recognized and required certifications will be offered such as GHS/WHMIS, Working at Heights, Hazard Awareness, and others.

Heritage Interpreters provide information by conducting tours or role playing for visitors at historical Indigenous heritage sites.

This program will help prepare participants for entry level opportunities while learning multiple roles such as dock hand, cooks helper, housekeeping, and serving in remote locations.
This program prepares Treaty 3 citizens for careers as Internet Service Technicians – the people who install and maintain the fibre optic networks that connect homes and businesses to reliable internet service in our communities. Participants will learn how fibre networks work, how to install and connect cables, how to set up internet equipment, and how to troubleshoot common connection issues. This hands-on training takes place outdoors in local communities, where technicians connect homes to fibre networks.

This comprehensive two-day training course is designed to teach participants to effectively respond to medical emergencies in the workplace, home or other settings. Ideal for everyday people who want to be prepared for the unexpected, this course is designed to meet provincial workplace regulatory requirements and covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Dibaajimowin Internet Service Technician (IST) Training Program
The Dibaajimowin Internet Service Technician (IST) Training Program is a hands-on training opportunity, provided as part of Grand Council Treaty #3’s Dibaajimowin Project, a collaborative initiative bringing high-speed fibre optic internet access to First Nation communities across the Treaty 3 territory.
SGEI’s training program helps eligible Treaty #3 citizens build the essential skills to complete work on the Dibaajimowin Project, and transferable skills to later grow in the IT and telecommunications fields. The training includes both classroom and hands-on experience, followed by an 8-12-week paid work placement, and finally full-time employment for successful program participants.
