About the ETS4S Program
The Employment Training Skills for Success (ETS4S) program is designed for:
- Individuals looking for full-time work
- Individuals looking to enter the community justice field, and
- Community justice sector employers looking to train staff or help employees advance in their careers.
Job seekers participate in this free, virtual, eight-week program to focus on their essential skills and build the tools necessary for meaningful work. Online learning is paired with hands-on certifications and various workshops to help participants ensure they are successful candidates. This program is free of charge for those who qualify.
Program curriculum
Curriculum includes but is not limited to:
- Document Use, Numeracy, Reading/Writing Skills
- Employability Skills; Resume writing, Cover letters, interview skills and preparation
- CPR/First Aid
- Mental Health and Wellness Training
- WHMIS
- Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps
- Introduction to Microsoft Office
- Workshops on Crisis Intervention and Conflict Resolution
- LGBTQ2S Toolkit
- Compassionate Fatigue
- An introduction to the Corrections Officer recruitment process (if applicable)
- Cultural Workshops with sector-specific application
Once having completed training, participants will continue to receive post-employment support and services, as well as the option to participate in various workshops for up to 12 months.
Supports
Individuals
Please note that participants will not be paid a wage to complete this training. Participants will be eligible for supports based on their need with regards to:
- Transportation
- Workwear/uniforms
- Emergency childcare
- Workplace accommodations
Employers
Financial support is also available for employers to help offset the cost of lost wages for mentorship/training on the job and paid release for incumbent workers. Please note that public sector and broader public sector employers are not eligible to receive financial employer support.
Eligibility
In order to qualify for the ETS4S program, participants must:
- Option A: currently unemployed and not in any other training program, or
- Option B: A community justice sector employee looking to retain or advance in the job
Participants must also:
- Be a resident of Ontario (ID/proof of residency required)
- Have a valid SIN/legally be entitled to work in Canada
- Have access to reliable internet and a computer
Upcoming training
Schedule:
ETS4S learners will participate in virtual learning and in-person training during various hours of the day, Monday-Friday. Please note that this program has a course syllabus and schedule and is not “work at your own pace.”
