DESCRIPTION:The 40-hour Wildland Firefighter Training course intensely focuses on safety and prepares participants to assume the role of an entry-level forest fire crew member. This course is mandatory for MNR Fire Rangers and private contract firefighters. \nCredential\n \nWildland Firefighter Certification valid for 2026/2027 \nWhat you’ll learn \nAttendance at all sessions is mandatory to complete the course. This course equips participants with the skills to safely and effectively work as forest fire crew members under the direction of a supervisor. \nParticipants will be trained in: \n\nBasic fire behaviours\nFire terminology\nMaintaining and operating equipment\, including power pumps\, suppression hand tools\, communications equipment and camping equipment\n\n\nCost \nFREE. Some participants may be eligible to earn a training allowance (hourly wage) while completing this training. \nEligibility \nOpen to everyone aged 18 years and older.
