Andrea Sackaney – Paramedic

My name is Andrea Sackaney. My family is from Fort Albany , but I grew up in the Niagara Region. I briefly attended Simon Fraser University in Vancouver , where I studied criminology. I soon discovered that this was the wrong path for me, so I worked as a server/bartender for 10 years. In 2004 at the age of 27, I went back to school. In April 2006, I graduated from the Paramedic Program at Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology. I was hired by the Niagara Emergency Medical Services. I now work for Naotkamegwanning Emergency medical Services as a Primary Care Paramedic or PCP. I love this job! It is satisfying knowing that you can make a difference. You get to work with your hands and every day is different. There is nothing like the rush of adrenaline that you get when your pager goes off and you rush to the ambulance. My Advice to you … WORK HARD! I’m not going to lie. It’s a tough program. But this job is worth it!
