Part One: Principal As A Leader/Manager:
The framework of this course gives special attention on how school leadership pertains to First Nations community setting. It focuses on accountability, equity, excellence, and partnerships. Module topics include:
- What it means to be a Principal
- Interpersonal Skills and Decision Making
- Human Resources: Supervision of Staff
- Legal Issues Related to School Operations and Personnel
- Students with Exceptionalities
- Date: July 2008.

The Practicum:
A practicum will follow Part One/Part Two, during the 2008/09 school year.
On-site Practicum: The on-site component of the practicum will allow the candidate to experience a leadership role through a number of possible activities. Participants will present their Principal’s Portfolios in the second summer session. Suggested practicum activities may include one or more of the following:
- Curriculum development within the region, community or school;
- Staff professional development;
- Community development; or
- School Program and Planning
The practicum plan will be developed during part one of the program, to be implemented during winter 2003/04.
