Fall Harvest

Fall is the time the First Nation People prepared for the long winter ahead. The different techniques used have been developed and passed down from one generation to the other for thousands of years. Local Elders have maintained this tradition and now they offer you an opportunity to learn what they have learned.

What We Learn From Fall Harvest

  • To increase cultural knowledge through theoretical, traditional and experiential learning.
  • To participate and learn about fall harvest activities.
  • To connect all aspects of self in a natural, culturally based environment.
  • To promote cooperative learning and sharing.
  • To promote healing through the use of traditional harvesting and gathering activities.

Things you can learn:

  • Tanning Hides
  • Preparing Wild Rice
  • Traditional Teas
  • Preparing Wild Meat
  • Lot's of extra's so be prepared to work

This event is at no cost to participants, but you are encouraged to register before September 24, 2008.

All donations will be appreciated. Bring any tools you may need, i.e. scrapers, knives, bowls, etc.
