Adult Education

Seven Generations Education Institute in partnership with the Keewatin Patricia District School Board (KPDSB) provides adult learners in the KPDSB jurisdiction with the opportunity to complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) on a full-time or part-time basis.

Who can participate?

Anyone 21 years and older within the KPDSB jurisdiction is eligible for Adult Education.

Do you want to get your Ontario Secondary School Diploma, but you don’t live in the KPDSB jurisdiction? You may be eligible for our Secondary School Program.

Adult Education locations

SGEI and KPDSB delivers adult education programming in 6 locations throughout Northwestern Ontario:

  • Dryden
  • Ignace
  • Kenora
  • Pickle Lake
  • Red Lake
  • Sioux Lookout

Diploma Requirements

In order to graduate with your Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), Secondary Students must complete a minimum of 30 credits including 18 compulsory credits.

If you have completed secondary school courses prior to coming to Seven Generations Education Institute, you may be eligible for transfer credits.

Mature students with the minimum eligibility requirements may pursue the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) evaluation in order to apply knowledge and skills gained outside of secondary school to their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Co-operative Education

Co-operative education allows students to apply two co-op credits toward their compulsory graduation requirements. This option is ideal for students intending to apply to university or college or enter into an apprenticeship or the workforce.

With co-op learning, students have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning, “test-drive” career options, develop essential skills required for the workplace and gain valuable work experience.
